Gamla is a furniture brand for the modern home that I founded in 2013. Working with a group of dedicated craftspeople, we designed and crafted objects with the ultimate in care and precision. I served as the lead designer, and creative lead responsible for product design, brand, manufacturing.
Gamla was named “Best in the West” by the Globe and Mail and “One to Watch” by Western Living. Editorial features include Montecristo, Homes and Living, Design Milk, Gray, Design Sponge, Apartment Therapy, Azure, Nylon and Vogue. Gamla has exhibited at IDS Vancouver, DesignTO, NYCxDesign, The New Frontier at Bellevue Arts Museum and Gray Magazine at the Museum of Vancouver.
The Brand

The Brand 〰️
Timeless Luxury
The Gamla brand is minimal, timeless, luxurious, and restrained. We speak to a sophisticated client with a desire for heirloom quality objects that can last a lifetime.
Stemming from one-of-a-kind hand-crafted pieces, we intended to communicate a sense of exclusivity and pay homage to the meticulous attention to detail and quality that never compromises.

S2 Dining Chair
I designed this chair for the Canadian Embassy in London, England and has since been produced for Canadian Embassies around the globe. The design was selected for its timeless aesthetic and craftsmanship that would last a lifetime.
It’s restrained in design and exact in its bend, measurement and proportion - the focal point of this piece is its curved ribbed backrest. Constructed of solid, sustainably-harvested walnut or oak with a catalyzed lacquer finish, and Serafini leather custom sourced from a tannery in Italy.
“Sleek, sculptural & simple, with enough elegance to please a more traditional eye.”
Gimli Traveller Den
A collection of contemporary dog dens and accessories I designed for the modern dog home. As one of our most successful product designs, GIMLI grew into its own sub-brand and shipped designer dog crate’s all over the world. Using sustainably harvested North American hardwoods, vegetable-tanned leather and non-toxic natural finishes, GIMLI has earned accolades in notable design publications like Nylon, Vogue, Design Milk, Modern Dog, Western Living, Gray Magazine, Montecristo, Design Sponge, Vancouver Sun, Toronto Star, numerous social media and blog features and a page in “Pet-Techture”, published by Phaidon.
“The most beautiful travel crate I have ever seen.”
S3 Lounge Chair
I designed the S3 Lounge Chair for the Canadian Embassy in Brussels, Belgium. The S3 Lounge Chair finds its power though subtle details and a timeless appeal. Meticulously handcrafted, each chair is precisely engineered to highlight its unique wrap-around solid walnut and brass frame and flawless joinery.
“The objects seem to oscillate in space. Articulated with flourishes of brass, every object has a resonance.”
Lighting
An evolving exploration of new materials, forms and technology that seek to create minimal, sculptural and cinematic light forms.
The Juice Truck
A series of pendant lights designed for the good people at The Juice Truck, Vancouver's original cold-pressed juice bar. The arched pendant lights were designed to be suspended in an array in the Juice Truck Community Space.
Tight Club Community Space
Working with Ply Architecture on the Tight Club community space in Vancouver, I designed a collection of custom leather stools and marble tables. The stools are handmade from silver leather upholstery with a vegetable-tanned leather saddle and a white powder-coated steel base.
The stools are directly influenced by the active space, referencing vintage gymnast balancing beams.
